About Marcel de Jong

I am Marcel de Jong, founder of IT Headhunter. 25+ years of HR, recruitment and coaching experience. Hire me as a freelancer of project based.

After a short career as an SAP specialist, I joined an executive search agency as an old-school headhunter in December ‘99. Last century that is ;-). Apart from tons of phone calls, we released the first ‘Query Fret’ ever, some sort of beta-version of a search-bot with a response time of 24 hours. It wasn’t until 2001 that I worked on my first developer vacancy. That’s when tech recruitment started for me.

In 2004 I started working for as an HR Manager. Waag was an R&D (new) media company for education, healthcare, and cultural heritage. Here I facilitated projects like Frequentie 1550 an the start of Fairphone. After my job was done in 2006 I founded HEBBES Personeel, the first recruitment company in the Netherlands to disrupt the market of fee based recruitment. With recruitment experience, more and more tech positions came my way.

After literally surviving the tsunami in 2004, I was drawn to personal development and grounded spirituality. Next to recruitment I started my coaching adventure, until today. My education also made me a better recruiter, because of better listening. And by detaching my personal ‘world’ I became more successful in integrating the storylines of candidates and employers. Some of these matches are still alive and kicking, sometimes 18 years later.

Through the years I’ve always been working as an agency recruiter, and every year I’ve worked for 1 or 2 companies as a corporate recruiter. In my work I love to combine the best of these two worlds. Lately I’m also being hired to lead recruitment teams. From these beautiful talents I’m learning a lot myself as well.
